Hello, I’m Kerrie — and I believe every person deserves to feel supported, understood, and valued in their emotional wellbeing, at every stage of life.
My journey into care and support has been shaped by years of listening to people’s stories, walking alongside individuals through challenges, and recognising how powerful compassionate, person-centred support can be — especially within mental health and dementia care.
I have a deep interest in human psychology, emotional wellbeing, and the unique ways we all experience the world. Through my work, I’ve seen how changes in memory, cognition, and mental health can impact not only the individual, but their families too. This is why I approach every person with patience, empathy, and respect for their lived experience.
While traditional therapy often explores the past, my approach blends emotional support, gentle coaching, and dementia awareness to focus on the present moment and what feels possible moving forward — even in the smallest ways.
My Approach
At the heart of my work is a simple belief:
You are not broken — you are human.
Whether you are living with anxiety, low mood, feeling overwhelmed, or navigating the changes that come with dementia or memory loss, you deserve support that meets you where you are.
My role is to walk alongside you — or your loved one — with warmth, reassurance, and understanding.
Together, we will:
• Gently explore feelings, behaviours, and emotional needs
• Create a calm, safe space where you feel heard and respected
• Support memory, routine, and familiar comfort in dementia care
• Build clarity around what matters most to you
• Develop simple, personalised ways to move forward
• Strengthen confidence, independence, and emotional wellbeing
A Gentle, Person-Centred Service
Gentle Home Support NI offers a caring, collaborative approach that honours dignity, identity, and individuality.
Whether support is emotional, practical, or companionship-based, my aim is to help each person feel:
• More grounded and at ease
• More connected to themselves and others
• More supported in daily life
• More confident in navigating change
I understand that with dementia, it’s not just about memory — it’s about preserving comfort, familiarity, and a sense of self. With mental health, it’s not about “fixing” — it’s about feeling safe enough to grow.
Moving Forward, Together
This is a space where you are met with compassion, patience, and respect — always.
Whether you’re seeking support for yourself or a loved one, we take things one gentle, meaningful step at a time.
What Makes Gentle Home Support NI Different.
After nearly two decades of working across hospitals, supported living, and community care, I saw a growing need for gentle, personalised, in-home emotional and practical support—especially for older adults and individuals facing mental health challenges.
Gentle Home Support NI was established to offer:
• Compassionate 1:1 Emotional Support: A safe space to talk and feel understood.
• Practical Help at Home: Assistance with daily tasks to ease the burden on families.
• Confidence-Building and Companionship: Fostering connections that reduce feelings of isolation.
• Support with Anxiety, Low Mood, and Daily Wellbeing: Tailored strategies for improved mental health.
• A Stigma-Free Environment: Encouraging open conversations without judgment.
My approach is rooted in dignity, respect, and genuine human connection, as I believe support should feel warm, reassuring, and tailored to each person’s unique needs.
My career in health and social care began in 2008, when I started as a Care Assistant with no formal qualifications — only a genuine commitment to supporting others with dignity and compassion. Since then, I have gained extensive experience across a range of settings, including:
• Nursing homes
• Hospital wards
• Accident & Emergency
• Supported living services for adults with mental health conditions and learning disabilities
Throughout my career, I have invested in continuous professional development to strengthen my knowledge and practice. My training and qualifications include:
• Level 3, Level 4, and Level 5 Diplomas in Leadership & Management in Health and Social Care
• Mental Health First Aid
• STORM Crisis Intervention Training
• WRAP (Wellness Recovery Action Planning)
• Safeguarding, dementia awareness, SALT, medication administration, and additional specialist training
• Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
These experiences and qualifications have shaped the professional standards and compassionate approach that underpin Gentle Home Support NI.
I have supported individuals through periods of crisis, recovery, daily living, and long‑term wellbeing. Throughout my career, I have supervised staff, led teams, and developed a strong understanding of how to create safe, supportive environments where people feel genuinely heard, respected, and valued.
These experiences have reinforced one clear principle:
People thrive when support is delivered with consistency, compassion, and a gentle, person‑centred approach.
This principle forms the foundation of Gentle Home Support NI and guides the standard of care and emotional support I provide.
